Terrible service, poorly maintained cars, unhelpful staff. 6 day rental for €350. So much regret and time wasted.
We rented cars at Schiphol more than 12 times from Hertz, Europecar, AVIS, etc. But didn't choose Sixt before because their prices are usually (bit) higher. Whenever I walked by their fleet I see pretty nice cars so decided to give them a try.
I inspected the car which had 5 reported damages. We found over 11 significant damages not reported. The car was not properly cleaned with bird droppings on the roof and side. We spent 25 min checking te car, getting the staff reinspect the car and check against their damage records. My wife is 6 months pregnant, just had 5 hour flight. Not exactly how we want to start our holiday.
Mishaps can happen but staff was totally unapologetic. He didn't want to provide another car unless we paid extra to upgrade and we'd need to walk back 10 min to the desk in the terminal.
Next day I noticed the front parking sensors were defective. I wil never ever rent from Sixt and I will advise everyone to stay away. Don't fall for their hip marketing mumbo jumbo and staff in fancy orange waistcoats. Behind the orange veneer is a very poor organization indeed. My experience with Sixt is been upsetting enough to spend 10 min writing this email, you don't want to be in my shoes: you have been warned.
